In this installation, the water bears (Tardigrades) are put in a glass cup on stage for a joint piano performance alongside the recitalist. As the first known animal to survive after exposure to outer space, water bears are recognized as one of the most extreme animals on Earth that can withstand harsh environments. Although the water bears do not have strong performance talents or any known appreciation for classical music, if an asteroid hits the Earth, a massive volcano erupts, or an alien invasion occurs during the concert, they would have a greater chance of survival than all attendees and other performers combined.
