A parallel is drawn between the power of sensationalization to the power of capitalism, where the sheer scale of amazon has led us to perceive a surreal force, with the capability of reaching any point on the globe with one or two-day shipping. This possibility is only there due to massive capital backing and its ability to operate at a certain loss.
The work creates similar visual effects to Wolfgang Laib’s pollen piece: awe at scale, fascination with color, and the subtle texturing of the powder’s undulating surfaces, but with the subtle sense of displeasure, unease, and rot that we have come to expect from capitalist endeavors.
